San Diego’s First Wave Hello has called it quits before even getting a chance to speak. The band announced they were taking a “break” to focus on side-projects after four years of extensive touring and recording. The band calls it quits shortly after releasing what is now their final record “God Bless, Devil You” earlier this year. When Ken Andrews (Failure, On, Year of Rabbit) played the World Cafe Live in Philadelphia a year and a half ago, I was introduced and captivated... [Read the full story]

Trent Reznor wants nothing more than to continue his Year Zero concept into a new medium, preferably series television. “It’s the most exciting thing on the horizon, it’s the thing that when I wake up in the morning it makes me say, ‘God it would be cool if that happened,” expresses the Nine Inch Nails mastermind of his ambition. As stated in an earlier Fishpork news post, Trent Reznor’s Year Zero concept may be developed beyond the album and into a TV series, which he prefers to a film... [Read the full story]

When I first download Panda Bear’s Person Pitch last year, my first thought was “this sounds like a Beach Boys record.” That wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, especially because it seemed to highlight... Gregg Gillis, better known as Girl Talk, decided to drop his latest record, Feed The Animals, (ala Radiohead/Trent/Saul) as a “pay what you can” download. The Pittsburgh native is the master of mash up and has been dropping hits since his 3rd release “Night Ripper” dropped in 2006 on the Illigal Art label. Regardless of what you pay, you get a zip file of the entire record as 320kb mp3s. If you pay five bucks or more, you can download uncompressed FLAC files. $10 gets you the files and a copy of the... Skeletal Lamping, one of the most anticipated indie records set to release this Fall, has leaked to torrent sites all over the Internet. Of Montreal falls under the extended family of Jeff Mangum’s Elephant 6 music collective from Georgia. Led by pretentious indie pop maestro Kevin Barnes and his inner demons, Of Montreal reached unanimous critical acclaim with their last effort, Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? That album contained some of the catchiest indie pop hooks ever recorded. More interesting were its... [Read the full story]
