Nosaj Thing’s Home was on our short list of favorite albums in 2013. LA-producer Jason Chung is now gearing up to release Fated, his highly anticipated follow-up to that stunning record next month. The album will continue Nosaj Thing’s penchant for collaboration and feature guest spots by Whoarei and Chance the Rapper. In anticipation of Fated, Nosaj Thing is currently touring with UK electronic producer Clark, including a stop at Fishpork favorite Johnny Brenda’s in Philadelphia on Monday night.
Chung’s set was meticulous and sounded superb on Brenda’s impressive sound system. He slowly built momentum during the near-60-minute set in front of a two-thirds capacity crowd, ripping through mostly newer material from his upcoming LP. Among the highlights were Fated tracks “Cold Stares” and “Don’t Mind Me,” and the accompanying two-screen visuals perfectly complimented Nosaj Thing’s slick production and moody atmosphere. Closing with fan-favorite track “Fog” from 2009’s Drift bookended the setlist nicely. Fated cannot come soon enough!
