Fishpork’s 10 Favorite Albums of 2015

This year was filled with all-time Fishpork favorites (Failure, Modest Mouse, Deerhunter) releasing arguably their best efforts in years. However, this was the year of Jib Kidder and Blanck Mass in accordance with Spotify plays, repeat listens, and complete immersion throughout the year. Here is the very biased list of Fishpork’s favorite albums of 2015:

1. Jib Kidder – Teaspoon to the Ocean

“Jib Kidder usually wears his influences on his sleeve by way of copying and pasting samples, but Teaspoon to the Ocean is his most original and stunning work to date.”

2. Blanck Mass – Dumb Flesh

“Power releases one of the best albums of the year and establishes himself as a solo artist to be reckoned with.”

3. Failure – The Heart is a Monster

4. Modest Mouse – Strangers to Ourselves

“His legendary reputation as a lyrical wordsmith remains intact, with relentless allusions and allegories.”

5. Father John Mistry – I Love You, Honeybear

“With I Love You, Honeybear, Tillman has overcome all of the hype. His strengths lie mostly in his ability to write near-perfect songs.”

6. Deerhunter – Fading Frontier

7. Foals – What Went Down

8. Viet Cong – Viet Cong

9. Behaving – Behaving

10. Built To Spill – Unthethered Moon

Honorable Mention:

  • Sufjan Stevens – Carrie and Lowell

  • Nosaj Thing – Fated

  • EL VY – Return to the Moon
