DragonTatoo.com Features Track From New Trent/Atticus Score Collab
Trent Reznor took to Twitter today to inform fans on the update to David Fincher’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo website, which most likely features a track from Trent’s new collaborative score with Atticus Ross. As with last year’s Academy Award-winning soundtrack for The Social Network, the experience of listening to the tracks will work best in the context of watching the film. In the meantime, you can check out the droning composition at www.dragontattoo.com.
Listen to 45 Seconds of Each Track From Modeselektor’s Monkeytown
Berlin techno duo Modeselektor have decided to share with the world 45 second snippets of all of the tracks off their forthcoming album, Monkeytown. This new album, out September 27 on Monkeytown Records, is their third album and was produced in one session over the course of ten weeks. Flowing freely between styles and tempos, Monkeytown experiments with the edges and extremes, exploring fresh sonic territory from a solid base of beats located deep within the groove. With massive drums, minced vocals and a mastery of mounting tension, Modeselektor creates a new animal out of dance music, a mutating chimera with body parts of left-field hip hop, soulful R&B, punk rap and playful surprises. Contributing to the album is an exciting palette of guest vocalists and musicians, including Thom Yorke, Busdriver, PVT, Anti Pop Consortium, Miss Platnum, Sascha Ring (aka Apparat), Pillow Talk, Gordon Boerger, Siriusmo and Otto von Schirach [via Pitch Perfect PR].

Watch Fincher’s TGWTDT Trailer Featuring Trent Reznor and Karen O’s Led Zeppelin Cover
Fresh off his Academy Award win for Fincher’s The Social Network, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross score the director’s next project, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, due in theaters on Christmas 2011. I’m not sure any collaboration is more anticipated this year, especially after the results of their last project. Exhibit A is the new red band trailer released in Europe this week. It features a cover song of Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” by Trent Reznor with Karen O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) on vocals. Watch a bootleg version below:
UPDATED: the high quality green band trailer was finally released this week:
Saul Williams Releases Dance Record
Without much press here in the US, Saul Williams released Volcanic Sunlight yesterday via Sony France. The album is his fourth and first since 2007′s Trent Reznor-produced The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust. Williams moved to Paris last year to record the demos for the record and says this is the first album he’s released where the music, not the words is the centerpiece (via www.saulwilliams.com). On first listen, the album is an absolute revelation. Today, the new video for album standout “Dance” was shared via William’s Twitter account (sorry, no embed option). The previously released video for “Explain My Heart” is embedded below:
Update: The Antlers Play Burst Apart In Its Entirety @ SXSW (update)
The Brooklyn-based trio have been announced as headliners at an NPR showcase at The Parish in Austin on March 17. The SXSW event will also be streamed live by NPR and will feature The Antlers playing their untitled and unreleased new album in its entirety. If this doesn’t sound like the potential highlight of this year’s SXSW Festival, I don’t know what does. You can read more about NPR’s coverage of the festival here.
UPDATE: You can listen to The Antler’s live performance of Burst Apart (with trumpet) from earlier today here.
UPDATE #2: NPR has a full video of the performance up at their site. Watch is here.
