Trent Reznor’s been talking about doing a project featuring a female vocalist for years. And he’s made no secret about his love for Ladytron, inviting them to open for his 2007 European tour. Reznor announced this morning via his Twitter account that Mira Aroyo will sing on the majority of his next release. In bigger news, the release will not be a Nine Inch Nails record, and Billy Corgan has already co-written several tracks with Reznor. Reznor, who is seen throwing baseballs at a target of Billy Corgan’s head in his 2000 video for “Starfuckers” says the feud has long been over. “I’ve apologized to Billy about some of the harsh things I’ve said over the years. I’m sober these days. Those were jealous, angry demons. You don’t need me to tell you that Billy Corgan is one of the most talented artists of the last 20 years.”
Corgan, who recently co-wrote a new song for Jessica Simpson, says he has similar goals via a recent interview with Paste magazine. “I’m sure people can agree that I’ve never had the greatest voice to listen to,” Corgan says. “This project gives me an opportunity to work with two people I’ve admired for quite some time. Mira’s voice can bring world peace. ” The trio are calling themselves SLANT (yes, it’s in italics) and plan to release a record sometime in the Fall. A teaser for the first single was posted to NIN.com last night at midnight here.
The Fishpork 20: Favorite Albums of 2008
